Wireless Love
Oh how things have changed. I just bought my fourth computer, Apple's 14" iBook. My first laptop. It's not even close to the fastest machine on the market, and if the rumors about PowerBook and iBooks being the first Macs to be built around the Intel chips, will be outdated soon, but it is more than 3 times as fast my G4 Tower. And that first computer? Here's a comparison:
| 1st | Newest | |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | 486 12MHz | 1.42GHz PowerPC G4 |
| RAM | 25MB | 1.5GB |
| Hard Drive | 200MB | 100GB |
| Optical Drive | None | CD/DVD R RW |
| Other Drives | 4.25" floppy | over 300GB on network, zip drive |
| Network | None | Wireless Ethernet |
| Modem | 14.4K Modem | Cable Modem over network |
Wow, and I get all that sitting in my living room, or at the desk in the office, and at the coffee shop or restaurant that has a WI-Fi Hot Spot. Pretty much anywhere I want to be and if I can find an internet connection I can not only access the internet, but my own file server.
