iPod Finally
It was only a matter of time before I bought an iPod. There's a definite time limit to how long I could call myself a tech gadget geek and an Apple lover and not have the most popular item Apple has ever sold. I've finally reached that expiration date.
I haven't used a CD player in a long time. I have 9 GB of music stored on my Mac and use iTunes exclusively to play music at home and stream my library to my computer at work using accessTunes. I have decent speakers on my computer, but my stereo speakers are better. I don't have a long commute to work and just listen to NPR on the way to and from work. This has work well, but next month I'm going on vacation to San Francisco and the thought of carting around a CD player and only a selection of my CDs was depressing. Heck, I'm not really sure where my portable CD player even is! Another bonus is that I can download some podcasts or an audiobook from my trip. I'll be able to use my iPod to play music through my stereo instead of only using my computer speakers.
I went with the 20 GB model. I really like the look of the Mini, but the price to disk space just doesn't make it practical. The color display is a nice feature that none of my friends who bought iPods last year have. I figure the next month will give me time to get all my songs transfered over to the iPod and figure out what accessories I might want. I'm thinking a FM transmitter to use in my car since I don't have a tape player, a cover to protect it from scratches and a Camera connector so I can store images from my digital camera.
