Fun with Widgets
Every since I upgraded to Panther and saw all the fun Widgets people have made, I've wanted to make one of my own. Well, it took awhile, but I finally found some time to play around and see if I could make my own Widget. The two I've made aren't much use to anyone who isn't a Advertising Artist at the Portland Press Herald, but if you are they definitely come in handy.
Ad Size Cheat Sheet
The first one is a Ad Sizes Cheat Sheet. I'm constantly looking up the column size for an ROP ad or the specs on one of are magazine ads. This widget pulls everything together, right at your fingertips. Nothing to spectacular, just some HTML, CSS and basic widget JavaScript. I used a CSS Cheat Sheet widget that I had as the start placing and modify it to suit my needs.

Ad Size Calculator
The second widget helps solve the problem of when a sales person asks you what size something they have would reduce to fit. You can enter the size of the original in inches, retail columns or classified columns and it will give you the depth of the ad rounded up to the next quarter inch for each possible column size. This one required a little more in the JavaScript and was probably the most JavaScript I've every had to write myself.
